Posted by: ilovekenya on: October 30, 2006

we took lilly to her first day of obedience school and although a little ADD, she did great! she has been a slightly easier dog to work with at home, too. we are excited about what she is learning. but, we want her to learn for a reason – we are hoping to certify her [...]

the journey deepens

the journey deepens – this was the conference that scott and i attended this past weekend. i highly recommend it for anyone who has a call of missions on their life.
if you are looking at going oversees to Russia, Bulgaria, Maldova, China, Kenya, Coasta Rica, Honduras, I highly recommend the following agencies, all aproved by [...]

“i know i came in this room for something.”

this morning i sat down to write my new post, but have completely forgotten what i was going to write about. there are days that i feel very absent minded. my parents warned me that at some point during my graduate career, i would be so focused on my project, i wouldn’t really connect well [...]

the world of centuarins is moving like a c.elegan

today during lunch, i heard a lecture given by a nobel prize winner, peter agre. it was amazing. i left feeling like i just got a pep talk – about how young scientist shouldn’t give up on something because it looks like a dead end. i needed it today. science is slow today. the world [...]

“luve, true luve, is what brwings us togefer today”

Posted by: ilovekenya on: October 16, 2006

i recently shared a story about a friend and her husband a few posts ago, about how he didn’t eat lunch because his wife didn’t pack it. it was not so much a commentary on the expectation to prepare food, as it was more of a commentary on the all or nothing mentality that is [...]

what about him?

Posted by: ilovekenya on: October 16, 2006

this is part of a rob bell sermon i heard about a year ago (the world really is flat – he reported the number of places that the podcast travels to over the internet, and wow. i am listening to the same sermon as someone in turkey – how crazy is that). he talks about [...]

kenya folk song

Posted by: ilovekenya on: October 14, 2006

these are school children out in massai land near the tanzania border. the girls and the boys preformed traditional massai songs for us. the quality isn’t award winning, but it gives you an idea of the kenyans we met while we visited.

all or nothing

Posted by: ilovekenya on: October 11, 2006

a friend of mine told me this story yesterday and it made me laugh. i wanted to pass it along.
rachel is married to phil, and they have been married for 2 years now. rachel makes phil’s lunch for him each day. one day, she couldn’t. so, she woke phil up 5 minutes earlier than normal [...]
